Mood. Space. Narrative.  Sara Gardner explores how texture, colour, and an individual object can be brought together to create an evocative tableau. Taking ordinary, everyday objects as her subjects – an office chair, a carousel horse, a bicycle – Gardner imbues these things with a sense of place: these are objects that are meant to be occupied with a body, but they are presented here, empty.  Her work resonates with psychological energy, suggesting the longing for a moment just missed, or the anxiety of something unknown about to occur.  Her bold paintings can be found in private collections throughout North America.
